His passion for colours, patterns and textures found expression in the field of textile design, which was a focal part of his oeuvre.
Vitra’s two fish – a mother and her little one – add another motif from the animal world to the cheerful family of Alexander Girard’s Wooden Dolls. Their horizontal orientation distinguishes them from the standing posture of the other figures in the large collection of dolls.
