The piece can be hung from the side of a desk or easily moved around the workplace on its four wheels. In 2011 Smith was won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award for its “productive and constructive ingenuity accompanied by remarkable multi-functionality”.

Designed by Jonathan Olivares in 2007 for Danese Milano: Smith is a Multipurpose Storage Unit with wheels. Painted sheet metal. It is storage, a bookcase, a worktop and seat at the same time. It is transportable thanks to its wheels. You can use it alone, on the floor, hanging over a table, or combining more elements together by stacking them. It represents the mobile extension of our territories and can store anything (from books to computers, from food to personal objects). It is a private space in which you can arrange your own world of objects and with which you can live your daily life.

Jonathan Olivares is an American industrial designer. Born in Boston in 1981 he founded Jonathan Olivares Design Research (JODR) in 2006, a studio that works in industrial, interior and communications design, based in Los Angeles. His projects are known for their unique combination of form and technology. His work with Danese Milano shows an analytical and multidisciplinary approach and his commitment to creating dynamic and practical products that always have a familiar and simple attention to a dynamic and practical use of products that always have a familiar simple aesthetic.
