New Arrivals: Panton Chair Duo – Limited Edition

Available exclusively from selected retail partners

Conceived by Verner Panton in 1959, the Panton Chair was developed in collaboration with Vitra in 1967 as the first all-plastic chair made in one piece with a cantilever design. Considered a defining classic of 20th century furniture design, its expressive form seems more like a freeze-frame of undulating motion than a chair. This year Vitra is launching the Panton Chair Duo as a special edition in five different colour combinations. Created in close cooperation with the Panton family, the two-toned chair is restricted to 999 pieces, marked with a ‘limited edition’ label.

“Choosing Colours should not be a gamble. It should be a conscious decision. Colours have meaning and function.“

VERNER PANTON

Enhancing an iconic shape with bold hues

The Panton Chair Duo is a universal homage to the work of Danish architect and designer Verner Panton, who used colours to enhance shapes, patterns and emotions. Available in five different combinations of two contrasting hues – one on the front, the other on the back – the new palette of the Panton Chair Duo recalls a vibrant rainbow: green, blue, purple, pink, red and orange. The dividing line between the two tones accentuates the characteristic profile of the chair. Like the rest of the Panton family, the Panton Chair Duo is eligible for an extended warranty of 10 years.

Panton Fantasy Landscape

The colour combinations of the Panton Chair Duo reference the legendary Fantasy Landscape, which Verner Panton created in 1970 for the Visiona 2 installation in Cologne. The exhibition spaces Visiona 0 and Visiona 2 are premiere examples of Panton’s unique ability to stimulate the imagination and transform people’s perception of interior design.
